The Republic of Japan has extended an invitation to Botswana Government to send fire fighters to Japan. This was revealed by the Japanese ambassador Masahiro Onishi at the official opening of annual inter fire games in Orapa recently. Onishi stressed that local fire fighters can learn a lot from them as Japan is at an advanced stage in terms of Fire services and natural disaster management.
He further urged Batswana to cooperate and give support to the Firemen and women who have pledged to save lives, protect property from destruction by fire and render humanitarian services. “As officers played such a vital role in people’s lives it is very important to converge and share experiences and advice each other. The event is being held under the theme “United and Proud Fire-fighters saves the nation,” Onishi said. To date he said, Japan has donated six (6) fire Engines and two (2) ambulances. He was happy that over the years more fire stations have been built. “I would like to urge all of you to view this as one of the milestones achieved over the 50 years Botswana has been independent,” Onishi added.
The event which ran from ..... was attended by districts such as Francistown, Lobatse, South East, Maun, Chobe, Jwaneng, Gaborone, Botswana Defence Force, Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, Sowa and the host Debswana.
